The Cornerstone Class is an adult class formed in 2004 to meet the needs of a very eclectic group. We have 25 members on roll and average around 15 each Sunday.
A lot of us have not been consistently raised in Sunday school groups or we have renewed our spiritual journey. Our class is made up of singles, divorced, half couples, with kids, without kids, employed, homemakers, and retirees, ranging in age from early 40 to 60’s. Whatever the age or background, we all care about each other and keep in touch when anyone is in need of a ride, a meal, a card, a telephone call or a friendly shoulder to lean on. What we have in common is that we are all busy people who make time to gather every Sunday morning to study Christianity and how to apply it to our crazy world. We make every effort to plan class socials 3 to 4 times a year. We like BBQ’s, Christmas Parties, eating at local restaurants, taking advantage of local events and pool parties. Some of the missions we enjoy as a class are serving dinner at First Light 3 or 4 times a year, helping out at the Church of the Reconciler, contributing to and serving families from our church food pantry, managing the Prayer Shawl Committee, helping to serve Wednesday night dinners at church, helping as church greeters/ushers and helping with Habitat for Humanity-type projects.
