Missions

“In service … to God … to neighbor … here and there”

Bluff Park UMC believes that true faith in Christ must be put into action. We offer a variety of mission programs that help our congregation be in active service to the world.

Our hunger missions include our Pantry on the Bluff that serves as many as 215 clients every month. We are also active in the “Under the Bridge” ministry where members take a hot meal to homeless people in downtown Birmingham.

We also have an active Volunteers in Mission group that works locally, nationally, and internationally. In the past our team has worked on Hurricane and Tornado relief efforts in South Carolina, Mississippi, and most recently in Alabama. We regularly work on new home construction through Habitat for Humanity in Birmingham. We have also traveled overseas to work with missionaries in Ecuador, Chile, and Latvia.

As a congregation, we serve internationally in missions, having a yearly trip to Chile to help United Methodist Missionary John Elmore with his ministry.

Another mission ministry that many in our congregation have supported is the Promise House built on our campus, We are partnering with Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health to provide quality family-style housing for adults with developmental disabilities. Members have donated time and finances to literally build a home from the ground up.
