Linda King
July 9, 1949 —September 23, 2020
Linda Green King, age 71, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 23, 2020. Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Bailey Kincey Green and Anna Norris Green, as well as her brother, Bailey Kincey Green, Jr. She is survived by Andy King, her husband of 48 years, her daughter Anna King Chatterton (Marcus), her son Reed King (Emily), her brother Norris Green (Cathy), her sister Leila Harris (Bill), and six grandchildren; Ian, Owen, Audrey, Ethan, Clara and Maggie, and several nieces and nephews. Linda was born in Selma, AL, and graduated from Parrish High School. She received her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Montevallo. Linda had a passion for education. She taught third grade for over 20 years at East End Elementary in Selma, Warrior Elementary, and Bluff Park Elementary. She also taught preschool at Shades Crest Baptist Church for 16 years, and later returned to Bluff Park Elementary as a beloved substitute teacher. Her warm smile, infectious joy, and affinity for hugs has left a lasting impact on the hundreds of children she had the privilege of teaching. Linda was a member of Bluff Park UMC, and received special joy from singing in the church choir for many years. She was an avid volunteer and participant in Bible Study Fellowship for over a decade. Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, playing bridge, relaxing at Lake Martin, horseback riding, and playing golf. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either Bluff Park Elementary School (569 Park Ave, Hoover, AL 35226) or Bluff Park UMC (733 Valley St, Hoover, AL 35226).
